Active Building Management – Why We Support the New Zealand Rugby Foundation
Active Building Management (ABM) is a specialist building and facilities management company based in Auckland, focused solely on multi-dwelling residential, commercial and industrial buildings. Our role is simple in concept but meaningful in execution: we look after the places where people live, work and build their lives - ensuring those environments are safe, well-maintained and able to support strong communities over the long term.
Since 2012, we have supported the New Zealand Rugby Foundation and since 2021 they have been our priority charity partner. Our support has included attending fundraising events, purchasing and donating auction items and being a founding member of the Pettigrew Giving Circle. We see this as a long-term partnership rather than a one-off sponsorship.
We support the Foundation for two main reasons. Firstly, like many New Zealanders, we love rugby - not just the professional game, but the community, amateur and grassroots levels where the sport plays such an important role in people’s lives. Rugby teaches resilience, teamwork and belonging, and those values don’t disappear when someone’s playing days end.
Secondly, and more importantly, we believe the work the Foundation does for past and present members of the rugby community is exceptional. The support provided during times of serious injury, illness, or hardship is practical, dignified and genuinely life-changing. We’ve seen first-hand how timely assistance can make an enormous difference - not just to individuals, but to their families and wider support networks.
