Our advocacy work starts with our injured players, who we partner with to ensure they receive everything they are entitled to.
When a player is injured, they and their families are literally in survival mode. We help them navigate New Zealand’s impressive, but sometimes daunting, health system and the multidisciplinary teams that devise treatment plans.
Later, we advocate for human rights when required and provide support, guidance and/or courage when addressing hard questions, including entitlements within the system.
We advocate for approximately 20 near-miss players annually. Often they and their families are in shock and need support to navigate the clinical systems and persevere until they receive the diagnoses and plan for recovery.
Like NZ Rugby and ACC, we are totally committed to player welfare and injury prevention and proudly amplify their important safety programmes.
